Introduced by an engaging chronology on the criminalization of homelessness in England, and a prologue comprising six edited narratives told by young homeless people, the study’s topics include researching homelessness, the historical shift from vagabondage to homelessness, representations of homelessness, homeless women, homelessness and victimization, and the regulation of homeless spaces. The book’s empirical basis rests on three funded projects on urban and rural homelessness in which Wardhaugh (U. of Wales, Bangor) made contact with numerous agencies and homeless individuals.
