Things turn around, however, when beautiful, intelligent Melanie Parker, who happens to be Jason’s sister, comes to her rescue. Devin is inspired by her new friend, and for the first time, begins to excel in school and is able to nurture her inherent musical talent. As Devin’s and Melanie’s relationship grows, Devin finds herself becoming increasingly drawn to her new friend’s vivacious spirit. Devin’s newfound confidence is severely tested, however, when Jason’s bullying takes a violent turn…and she realizes that her feelings for Melanie are more than platonic.
