Simmering tensions lead to a detour off the trail and straight into a waking nightmare … and then into something far worse. Something that will test them in horrifying ways. Stephanie Perkins, the bestselling author of *There’s Someone Inside Your House* , returns with a heart-stopping, gut-wrenching novel about friendship, survival, and navigating unmarked paths even as evil watches from the shadows.

So I bought this book as a way to get me back into reading books and I honestly regret purchasing this one. It’s described as fast paced but this book has to be one of the most slow burn “horror” books i’ve ever read! nothing was scary about it. it was honestly more confusing than suspenseful. one moment they’re hiking…then they’re fighting…and then one character just falls in a hole? Then a man comes by and shoots her hand off? and now the other character has asthma all of a sudden? I honestly stopped reading the book and moved on to a new one.
