I wanted to get Bowman, and the reader, out of London for a change! After the dark and dingy alleys of the capital as seen in the last two books, it was nice to write about broad horizons and open skies. WHAT HAS HAPPENED SINCE THE LAST NOVEL? The events that follow the second book, The Devil In The Dock, are detailed in two short stories set immediately after. They show Bowman on a downward spiral as he grapples with the implications of his wife’s death. YOU LEAVE BOWMAN IN QUITE A DARK PLACE AT THE END OF THIS BOOK. WHY ARE YOU SO CRUEL TO HIM? I know!
