Being an interstellar pilot should be a great job. See the universe. Meet wonderful characters. Unfortunately, ex-Interstellar Space Authority cadet Seff Pacheco is down on her luck and doing little more than shuttling ungrateful snobs back and forth to cosmic brothels. Her latest client is from one of the galaxy’s biggest companies, Andromeda Holdings, and Seff’s boss has made it plain that she is to keep the customer happy at all costs. While she fends off his untoward advances, her ship is attacked by space pirates. The Benevolent Friends are the most ruthless thugs in the galaxy. It’s a typical day for Captain Pacheco. This light-hearted short story is the first of a series featuring the exploits of Captain Seff Pacheco as she comes up against the bizarrest threats in the universe.
