A classic in the making, this is listed as a graphic novel, but I would categorize it as a heavily illustrated early chapter book. And I totally loved it. The boy (as he’s referred to in the story) tells Walter, his stuffed bear, that it’s time to wake up and start the day. Walter, who was dreaming of waffles, is not as excited to start the day. But off they go on a new adventure, beyond the gate, and into the uncut grass. Simple and sweet.
