Raymond West approaches the Tuesday Night Club with a question. He has recently visited a friend, John Newman, who has been searching for the Spanish ship, Otranto, which was shipwrecked off the coast of Cornwall. John had disappeared for days, and upon his return he claimed that he had been abducted by the thieves who had stripped the ship of its gold.
