The main character is an introverted recluse who teams up with a fourteen-year-old girl. Together, they fight to survive in a drastically world changed by a pandemic. He is computer-smart and ordered his needs online until the internet died. She is street-smart and willing to fight for her beliefs. Where one of the pair is strong the other is weak, in world that has degenerated into hungry mobs of desperate people. This book is purposefully different from the norm of the genera in that it centers more on the people while the story advances. There is no sexual content, the violence is not graphic or prolific.
