Description
*Glory* , the author’s fifth novel, was first published in Russian with the title *Podvig*. Until now American and English bibliographers have referred to it at *The Exploit*. It has been translated by the author’s son in collaboration with the author, and was the last of his nine Russian novels to receive such treatment. This edition includes a foreword by the author, written 8 December 1970 in Montreux. *Glory* is the story of an émigré family’s escape from Russia, a young man’s education in England, and his return to the nation of his birth (the feat or exploit of the title), and is seen by some as a semi-autobiographical test-run for the writing of the better known autobiography, *[Drugie Berega](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1432440.Drugie_Berega Drugie Berega) *, later translated into English as *[Speak Memory](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/37653.Speak_Memory Speak Memory) *.
