This is such a sweet, refreshing story. I really, really love the gamer wisdom sprinkled throughout—especially (summarizing) “be proud of what you’ve done but not so attached that you don’t see how to keep advancing.”
Bennett’s characters are charming and just complex enough for a YA novel. They have personal challenges that they learn to work through by working together to become champion gamers.
While reading this book, I kept thinking it would be a perfect gift for a young gamer who might need some encouragement to read (but doesn’t need their gaming discouraged).
