The loot of the pirates provided the springboard for England to search for treasures in India. Having established itself in India, Britain rolled out its Indian mode of governance to other parts of the world, including the Middle East where it greatly helped to create the Zionist colonial project in Palestine and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The book totally rejects and refutes the unquestioned assumption that contemporary British imperialism is simply an adjunct to American imperial foreign policy. This assumption is jubilantly referred to as a special relationship by its supporters; by its detractors it is disparagingly depicted as America’s poodle.
