I really wanted to like this as much as I liked Alias Grace. Unfortunately, I did not. For me, Cat’s Eye was neither good nor bad. I found the section of Elaine’s childhood and the torturous relationship with her girlfriends (Cordelia, Grace, and Carol) compelling and an absolute page-turner. Once Elaine was in college, I was quite bored. In fact, with 100 pages to go, I said to my husband, I just need to get it over with. I really only finished it to see if she and Cordelia would meet up in middle-age.
