Whoa. This book delivered so many twists and turns that I did not see coming from anywhere. From the synopsis on the book, Another Day by David Levinthan, I thought this would be a teenage girl point of view novel, where her boyfriend is going through a hard time, but oh was I wrong. For the first few chapters, I was a tad bit confused, because I thought this novel was realistic fiction, but after some things just did not add up, that’s when I made the conclusion that this book was a fiction story. This was the first piece that I read from David Levinthan, and I am glad to say that it certainly will not be my last, because his style of writing is so unique and original. His wording and voice from the characters contributes to the overall gloomy yet adventurous ambience. Starting with the characters, many of them seemed to have the same yet very different personalities. Rhiannon, Justin, and A, all seem to be a little off. Rhiannon seems broken, but does not know it… yet. Her boyfriend is quick to be irritated and is most of the time rude, while Rhiannon is just quiet. I feel sympathetic for her, and all that she puts up with. When A came into the plot, it was the moment I realized that this was not a realistic fiction novel, and rather a fiction novel. Overall, the plot was laid out in a great way, where the audience were confused in a good, curious way, and every twist and turn helped feed our interest in the book. The overall problem of Rhiannon not being able to find someone who reflects herself, is frustrating for her and the readers. The constant shift of her meeting A in different bodies shows the essence of inner beauty, and it really does not matter how ever you look on the outside, and I feel like that was an inspirational hidden message within this story.
