Even though this is categorized as a YA read, as an adult I found it beyond interesting. The main character, Ginny is a conservative 17 year old with an artsy, somewhat-out-there, gypsy-like aunt (Aunt Peg) that she connected with. Her aunt disappeared one day and Gin had no idea where she’d gone or why she’d left. Fast forward to 2 years later. Ginny received a call from a man in England that her aunt had passed away from brain cancer. In her aunt’s true somewhat-out-there style, before she died she composed 13 letters with specific instructions for Ginny to do to experience…life. Those letters in little blue envelopes took Ginny to Europe where her adventures begin. I loved each and every letter. And I could feel the aunt’s excitement for Gin. I could also feel Gin’s hesitation to fulfill what her aunt expected of her. I won’t go into detail what each letter contained. You’ll have to read for yourself. The journey was amazing! It took Gin out of her comfort zone. She learned a lot about herself, while also getting to know parts of the world that she never would have gone to if it hadn’t been for her gypsy-like aunt.
