**#4 Reluctant Siege** – 265 B.C.
A battlefield covered with dead Legionaries, an Empire encroaching on the Republic, and a Senate in turmoil.
Alerio Sisera will need all his skills as a heavy infantryman, a scout, and a weapon’s instructor to survive. Standing with two gladii in a river of blood, the Legionary will battle for his life in the Reluctant Siege.
**#5 Brutal Diplomacy** – Winter 264 B.C.
The tide of soldiers washed over the Legion shields, burying the ranks of Legionaries.
“Push!” the Legion NCO yelled over the grunts and cries of men struggling against the mass of bodies pressing down on them. “Push!”
And the Legion shields rose, rolling back the tide. The higher the shields the more soldiers slid off and the straighter the Legionaries stood. One shield tilted back, and a soldier tumbled behind the ranks. A Legionary stepped back, drove his blade between the soldier’s ribs, and stepped back into the scrum.
With the Qart Hadasht Empire controlling the port of Messina and the shipping lanes, one Legionary is sent across the Messina Strait to do the impossible. Open the harbor for the Legion. Once behind enemy lines, Alerio Sisera will rely on his style of physical negotiations and brutal diplomacy to complete the mission.
**#6 Fortune Reigns** – Summer 264 B.C.
An advance detachment from Caudex Legion temporarily held Messina. Their position already compromised by an army from Syracuse threating their southern flank. The Senior Tribune counted their control of Messina in a day not in a week when an army from Carthage crept in on their northern flank.
History tells us, in order to avoid the Carthage warships, Consul General Caudex made a daring nighttime crossing of the Messina Strait. What the General didn’t plan on was his Legions becoming trapped between two armies.
The Legion’s responses to the overwhelming odds were the first major battles in the Punic War conflicts.
In the crush of disembarking Centuries, Alerio Sisera got caught up in politics and power plays. Somehow, Alerio must find redemption and a way to restore his reputation. He would, but only when fate blesses him and fortune reigns.
