I’ve always been obsessed with the notion of family, how a group of people share the same DNA. I longed to find my own group, the ones whose blood sings the same tune as mine. Maybe it’s a result of being an orphaned child, of being left on the steps of a church at just a few days old, but I can’t ignore the yearning any longer.
I want to find my family.
All it takes is one test, a single swab, and my whole lineage will open up before me. Maybe I could look the woman in the face who abandoned me and demand answers. Maybe I will stand toe-to-toe with my father and watch as his face transforms with elation at the sight of me.
I’m ready to go home.
