These 50 poems of old age and remembrance were written during the year following the death of the poet’s beloved wife of sixty years. They follow-and in many ways are an outgrowth of-two previous books of poems about her: Darkness Descending, which treats her tragic but valiant struggle with Alzheimer’s, and To Kaye: The Afterlife, a tribute to her life and love. Taken together, the three books frame a love story interwoven with grief, recovery, and celebration.
