She was meant for me, but I would have to win her first. I guess I was surprised to find out just how much I looked forward to the game. We had larger complications—one of the most powerful angels in creation had gone rogue. A deviant sire angel was bad enough, this one was murdering humans. Gleefully. As Cin and I track him down, the problem becomes clearer to me—angels have no concept of pain, of being human. Our murderer has a goal and nothing will stop him. Unless I can give up eternity to bring me closer to earth, I fear we’ll never stop this heavenly monstrosity. Cin I’m Lucinda Morgaine. Cin for short. The work kept my pantry full and the heater on, so much so that I’ve never had any qualms about what I do. Least not till the day an angel barged into my life and upset everything I knew about the universe. And there I thought I’d kept the heavenly heat off my tail. Unfortunately not. They know who I am, at least this angel does. This angel called Gui. Now Gui wants me to join an elite assassin’s organization and be his partner. I already turned down their silly director, but Gui comes bearing monstrous news about a powerful rogue angel leaving death and destruction in its path. I’m in, but only because an angel breaking all the rules is the kind of plot twist I go for. Imagine spending time with an eternal being. It’s uncomfortable. Disturbing. It makes me aware of all my flaws. When we bond to access an ancient power source, I can suddenly feel him. Whatever strengths he gives me, the drawbacks are just as powerful. How will I keep ahold of the little humanity I had before becoming Gui’s partner? Once we stop the rogue angel, I’ll need to break this bond.
