Oh, and a bunch of supernatural creatures, too. **Disclaimer and author’s This is not an alpha adventure.** The main character is intentionally not an alpha-male who dominates and takes charge, especially not in the beginning of the story. He is a young man completely out of his element, who is thrust into a situation that exposes him to a fantastical new world and new possibilities. He struggles with his new role, and with help, he begins to grow into his new situation and abilities. He sees the friends and lovers he gathers along the way as partners, not as subjects. I understand the alpha-male trope is popular and there are many authors who explore it very well. However, it is not a trope I explore in this story or this series. I’ve added this disclaimer to try to clarify what my story is and avoid failing to meet any reader’s expectations who were looking for something different.
