Humans have escaped to The Ring — a space station that encircles the dying planet — leaving sentient synthetic beings behind to brave the harsh conditions of Earth alone. But life on The Ring is far from perfect.
Thomas Eayres had once been tipped as a promising operative at the Android Crime Investigations unit. But with a wife at home and a child on the way, he finds himself less concerned with his performance on the job, and increasingly anxious about the safety of his family.
It’s not until a plot to destroy mankind’s most formidable creation comes to fruition that Thomas realises fulfilling his duties as a detective is the only way to save the ones he loves. But his efforts unearth a much more sinister threat against his family, his friends, and the lives of every human on board The Ring.
And no one – least of all Thomas – could have guessed that humanity’s fate would one day rest in the hands of a synthetic left to die on Earth.
